Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, National Government Offices Administration, China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and National Energy Administration formally announced the list of National Green Data Centers for the year of 2023, and the GDS Pujiang Data Center has been successfully selected as the National Green Data Center of the Internet field, which is the third year in a row that the company has been on the list.

Located in Minhang District, Shanghai, with a total floor area of nearly 90,000 square meters and put into operation at the end of 2021, GDS Pujiang Data Center is the first batch of new construction projects in Shanghai to support the energy consumption index, and also the first GDS data center in East China to practice green and energy-saving digital information fine-tuning management, mainly providing high-performance arithmetic services for the digital finance trade and the Internet industry.

According to the requirements of the National Green Data center Assessment, GDS Data Pujiang Data Center continuously optimizes the key energy efficiency indicators of the data center by investing and practicing in the areas of increasing the proportion of renewable energy use, AI to improve the operational efficiency, strengthening the intelligent operation and management, applying the innovative technology such as liquid cooling, and integrating the industry and education with R&D.

Increasing the proportion of renewable energy use: 243.1kWp distributed photovoltaic systems have been built in the Pujiang Data Center Campus, with an annual power generation of up to 238,000kWh. Combined with the direct green power procurement and green certificate trading, it has been maintaining a 100% renewable energy utilization rate since 2022, realizing zero-carbon operation.

AI improves operational efficiency: GDS Data sticks to the use of AI algorithms to comprehensively upgrade the operational efficiency of data centers. Through AI technology, Pujiang Data Center has established an energy efficiency log management system platform that can monitor energy consumption in real time, and innovatively applied AI technology to BA control system.

Strengthening intelligent operation management: Pujiang Data Center is on-line with the GOCC (Global Operation Command Center) national energy dual-control platform of GDS Data, equipped with an exclusive energy efficiency expert post, to realize integrated, automated, refined and efficient control of various infrastructure operations.

Integration of industry and education to promote the application of innovative technologies: GDS Data has established long-term strategic cooperative relationships with Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and other major research institutes. Based on the special research and development on plate liquid cooling technology with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Pujiang Data Center applies the innovatively designed liquid cooling system to realize the frequency conversion control of cooling towers.

Continuous upgrading and reconstruction of energy-saving technologies: GDS continuously upgrades and reconstructs the equipment and systems of Pujiang Data Center, such as power supply and distribution, refrigeration, water treatment, and waste heat and cold recovery, to further improve the efficiency of energy use and realize energy recycling.

The Pujiang Data Center (Building 2), which is participating in the evaluation, has achieved 100% green power coverage in 2023, with an annual average PUE of 1.27, WUE of 0.995L/kWh, and an annual utilization of waste heat and cooling of 245,000kWh, which has become a demonstration project of green energy saving for GDS, and has successively been awarded with honors such as " Data Center Full Cycle Green, Low-Carbon, and Net-Zero Emission Model", " Leader of Lingang Group Campus", "2022 China IDC Industry Green Arithmetic Data Center", etc.

Recently, with the " cooling water waste heat recovery heating project", GDS Data Pujiang Data Center has been successfully selected as one of the "Shanghai Top Ten Excellent Cases of Waste Heat Utilization" organized by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information and Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center, which is a positive response to the requirements of the "Shanghai Industrial Carbon Peak Implementation Plan" and the "Shanghai Industrial and Communication Industry Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction "Baiyi" Action Plan (2022-2025)" and other documents. Shanghai Industrial Carbon Peak Achievement Implementation Plan", "Shanghai Industrial and Communication Industry Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction "100-1" Action Plan (2022-2025)" and other documents.

GDS has always placed great importance on green and sustainable development. In 2022, the best annual average PUE of the company's data center is 1.15, and the proportion of renewable energy use rises to 35.9%. In the future, GDS Data will continue to improve the level of energy saving and carbon reduction, and lead the green development of the industry in the AI era.
